If you want to further your studies at university, The Academy for Tourism & Hospitality will give you the skills you need to excel in tertiary studies and set you on a path to success.

Plus, if you complete one of our courses, you could also get credit for the work you’ve done – often taking up to a year off your course at university.

While we have agreements with many universities, if the university you want to be part of isn’t listed, you may still get credit.

Hospitality and Tourism

Coventry University College – UK

Coventry have been rated 2nd in The Guardian league table for Tourism, Events and Hospitality for 2016. CTH students can take advantage of attractive progression opportunities with Coventry University College.

This agreement enables CTH Level 4 Diploma (formerly known as just Diploma), Level 5 Diploma (formerly known as Advanced Diploma) and Level 6 Diploma (formerly known as Postgraduate Diploma) graduates holding IELTS 6.0 or above to transfer credits for Coventry University College’s BA (Hons) Strategic Tourism & Hospitality Management degree. Eligible CTH graduates can apply to study at either one of Coventry University College’s campuses in the UK based in either Coventry or Scarborough.

Bournemouth University – UK

Bournemouth University is rated 2nd for Tourism and Hospitality by The Guardian. Holders of a CTH Level 5 Diploma (formerly known as Advanced Diploma) qualification can gain entry (subject to application) onto the final year of Bournemouth University’s Hospitality and Tourism Degree programmes.

Bournemouth University is pleased to review applications from CTH students who have achieved a credit profile and who have attained IELTS 6.0 (Academic) or equivalent, for progression onto their BA (Hons) International Hospitality and Tourism Management Top-Up Degree.

University of Wolverhampton – UK

University of Wolverhampton is a place of knowledge, innovation and enterprise. They underpin University’s strategies in learning and teaching, in research, and help us to engage with the business world. The University have come to play a vital role in the region’s economic and cultural development, with the vision for higher education goes beyond opening minds and widening individual horizons.

The University of Wolverhampton is happy to accept students with the following CTH qualifications onto the programmes outlined:

Successful graduates of the CTH Level 4 Diploma (formerly known as just Diploma) in Hotel Management or Tourism Management with at least a pass are eligible for direct entry into year 2 of:

• BA (Hons) Event and Venue Management OR,
• BA (Hons) International Hospitality Management OR,
• BA (Hons) Sport Management OR,
• BA (Hons) Tourism Management

Successful graduates of the CTH Level 5 Diploma (formerly known as Advanced Diploma) in Hotel Management OR Tourism Management with at least a pass are eligible for direct entry into year 3 of:

Successful graduates of the CTH Level 6 Diploma (formerly known as Prograduate Diploma) in Hospitality and Tourism Management are eligible for direct entry into:

• Pre-Masters in Hospitality Management, leading to MA Hospitality Management

Students must also be able to demonstrate English language ability equivalent to an IELTS score of 6.0 overall (with at least 5.5 in each component), for entry onto these programmes.

William Angliss Institute – Australia

William Angliss Institute is a dedicated training provider for the foods, tourism and hospitality industries, delivering a range of courses from four-year degrees, Australian Accredited Apprenticeships to short courses. Each year over 15,000 students including 1000 international students are trained at the Melbourne campus in Victoria. CTH students who have passed the Level 4 Diploma (formerly known as just Diploma) and Level 5 Diploma (formerly known as Advanced Diploma) in Tourism or Hotel Management can progress onto WAI’s Bachelor of Tourism and Hospitality Management Degree. Middlesex University – UK

Middlesex University teaching quality was recently rated as ‘excellent’ by the UK Quality Assurance Agency and research quality was rated as being of ‘all-round national excellence’ in the 2001 Research Assessment Exercise. Middlesex ranked second in a new re-assessment of teaching quality in all English universities. CTH students can progress from the CTH Level 4 Diploma (formerly known as just Diploma) in Tourism Management or Travel Agency Management on to the 2nd year of the Middlesex University Dubai BA (Hons) Major in International Tourism Management with possible options in Business Studies, Marketing or Human Resource Management.

Students completing the Level 5 Diploma (formerly known as Advanced Diploma) programmes in Tourism Management or Hotel Management can progress on to the final year of The Middlesex University Dubai BA (Hons) in Hospitality Management and Tourism or BA (Hons) or Hospitality Management.

University College Birmingham – UK

The University College Birmingham accepts successful CTH graduates on to their second or final year BA (Hons) International Hospitality and Tourism Business Development degree as appropriate. Students receive their degree from the University of Birmingham.

University of Sunderland – UK

The 2008 Guardian University Guide ranks Tourism at University of Sunderland as the 6th best in the UK. The University was also ranked as 3rd best in terms of teaching satisfaction. CTH students who have passed the Level 5 Diploma (formerly known as Advanced Diploma) in Tourism or Hotel Management can progress on to study the final year of the BSc (Hons) International Tourism and Hospitality Management awarded by the University of Sunderland, at a number of colleges in the UK.

London South Bank University – UK

London South Bank University, (LSBU), is focused on vocational qualifications which improve graduates’ career prospects. As a result, LSBU is now ranked 6th in the UK for graduate starting salaries. Students can apply for entry onto the second or final year of the BA (Hons) Tourism and Hospitality Programme as appropriate. CTH and LSBU have a progression agreement that guarantees entry to CTH students onto the second or final year of the LSBU undergraduate Tourism and Hospitality programme.

CTH Level 5 Diploma (formerly known as Advanced Diploma) graduates with two or more years of relevant work experience can apply to study the LSBU MSc in International Tourism and Hospitality Management. CTH students who would like to apply to study at LSBU should download the LSBU undergraduate (or postgraduate) application form from the LSBU website, complete it and clearly state at the top of the form that they are a CTH graduate. Edith Cowan University – Australia

Edith Cowan University is Western Australia’s second largest university with approximately 23,000 students, including in excess of 3,000 students originating from more than 80 countries. Edith Cowan University is located in Perth, Western Australia, a gateway to Asia. The Edith Cowan Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management prepares competent graduates for careers in the hospitality, travel and tourism industries. It has been designed to give students a solid foundation in both disciplines in order to prepare them for leadership in these areas.

The course includes two ‘industry smart’ units which equip students with both industry knowledge and industry practice. Students completing the course will acquire the knowledge and generic skills to launch themselves into an exciting career in hospitality or tourism. Students who have completed the CTH Level 4 Diploma (formerly known as just Diploma) and Level 5 Diploma (formerly known as Advanced Diploma) programmes in hospitality or tourism will be granted entry and 120 credits into the university¹s Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management.

Hotel School Sydney – Australia

The Hotel School Sydney is a unique partnership between Southern Cross University and Mulpha Australia’s hotel portfolio, (InterContinental Sydney, Hayman Island, Sanctuary Cove, Hyatt at Sanctuary Cove, Hilton Airport, Melbourne, and Bimbadgen Estate, Hunter Valley, NSW). Southern Cross University offers its award winning Bachelor of Business in Hotel Management at The Hotel School Sydney. The course focuses on hotel operational skills and management practice in tourism and hospitality industries. The Hotel School Sydney develops dedicated professionals with university qualifications that are recognised and highly regarded internationally.

The growth of tourism alongside their association with major hotel companies, have culminated in exciting opportunities for a global career in hotel, tourism and services management. This is clearly demonstrated by the continued success of our graduates. Paid internship during first year studies is an attractive feature of the programme, as is its proximity to the five star hotel, InterContinental Sydney. The School is positioned in the heart of Sydney’s CBD, with the Harbour, Opera House and Botanical Gardens on its doorstep. The Hotel School Sydney offers a Bachelor of Business in Hotel Management over three years. CTH Level 4 Diploma (formerly known as just Diploma) and Level 5 Diploma (formerly known as Advanced Diploma) in Hotel Management or Tourism Management are able to progress onto the second year of a Bachelor of Business in Hotel Management with advanced standing as appropriate.

Griffith University – Australia

Since opening its doors in 1975, Griffith University has come to be regarded as one of Australia’s most innovative tertiary institutions and one of the most influential universities in the Asia-Pacific region. Griffith University accepts successful CTH Level 5 Diploma (formerly known as Advanced Diploma) graduates on to the final year of their Bachelor of Business (International Tourism and Hospitality Management). Students receive their degree from Griffith University.

University of Central Lancashire – UK

The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) has been ranked 3rd in the UK in the subject category for Hospitality, Leisure, Recreation and Tourism by the Times Good University Guide for 2013, 5th in the UK in the subject category of Tourism, Transport and Travel by the Guardian University Guide 2013 and 11th out of 46 for the Tourism subject area in the latest National Student Survey..

CTH has the following agreement with UCLan: CTH Level 3 Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality graduates are able to progress onto the first year of UCLan BA(Hons) International Hospitality Management, International Tourism Management or Event Management as appropriate. CTH Level 4 Diploma in Hospitality Management or Tourism Management graduates are able to progress onto the second year of UCLan BA(Hons) International Hospitality Management or International Tourism Management and Level 5 Diploma in Hospitality Management or Tourism Management graduates are able to progress onto the third year of BA(Hons) Management in Hospitality (Final Year Top-up) or BA(Hons) Management in Tourism (Final Year Top-up) with advanced standing as appropriate. Each applicant will be considered on merit and decisions will be based on individual applications. A candidate needs to demonstrate an ability to study in English through an IELTS score of 6.0 (with no component below 5.5) or equivalent.

Sunway University – Malaysia

Sunway University was formed with the belief and understanding that higher education is vital to the progress of the Malaysian nation. Occupying 22 acres of prime land in Sunway city, the MYR 120 million campus, fully equipped with academic, hostel and sports utilities is among the largest and most modern private institutions in Malaysia. Sunway University accepts successful CTH Level 4 Diploma (formerly known as just Diploma) graduates on to the first year of their BSc. (Hons) in International Hospitality Management degree (as appropriate) and successful Level 5 Diploma (formerly known as Advanced Diploma) graduates on to their second year BSc. (Hons) in International Hospitality Management degree, (as appropriate).

Students who complete the Sunway University Bachelor degrees are awarded two certificates; one by Sunway University and one by Le Cordon Bleu of France.

Glasgow Caledonian University – UK

Glasgow Caledonian University offers a stimulating, vibrant and accessible environment for learning, teaching and applied research. Nearly 17,000 students from the UK and abroad study here, and aims to provide each and every one of them with an unbeatable student experience, a high-quality education and valuable employability skills.

CTH has the following agreement with GCU; CTH Level 4 Diploma (formerly known as just Diploma) in Tourism or Hospitality – successful completion of this provides eligibility to apply for direct entry to the third year of either BA/BA(Hons) International Tourism and Travel Enterprise OR BA/BA(Hons) International Tourism and Hospitality Enterprise. CTH Level 5 Diploma (formerly known as Advanced Diploma) in Tourism or Hospitality – successful completion of this provides eligibility to apply for direct entry to fourth year of either BA(Hons) International Tourism and Travel Enterprise OR BA (Hons) International Tourism and Hospitality Enterprise.

As a Scottish institution, Glasgow Caledonian University adheres to the SCQF credit transfer guidelines. A candidate must have 2 years (240 credits) of equivalent study to enter 3rd year of a degree, and 360 credits to enter 4th year. This means that it expects students with the CTH Level 4 Diploma (formerly known as just Diploma) and Level 5 Diploma (formerly known as Advanced Diploma) to also hold an A Level or equivalent qualification. If they don’t hold this then they may be offered a lower point of entry (at present the university does not run Tourism and Hospitality suite at 2nd year entry). Glasgow Caledonian University expects students to have achieved a prior year of study equivalent to A Level.

University of Gloucestershire – UK

The University of Gloucestershire is a university primarily based in Gloucestershire, England, spread over four campuses, three in Cheltenham and one in Gloucester. The University of Gloucestershire signed a Memorandum of Understanding with CTH last year to approve entry with advanced standing for CTH students to its hospitality and tourism degree programmes.

University of Plymouth – UK

CTH students can apply to gain entry and advanced entry at University of Plymouth’ School of Tourism and Hospitality. Student applications will be assessed on individual basis and awarded advanced entry where applicable. CTH is currently in discussions with the University to arrange a more formal articulation and will be updating the details once the arrangements are finalised.

Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE – Australia

Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE has been delivering qualifications since 1912 and today offers a a diverse range of innovative qualifications including Higher Education (Degree) programs to equip students with the knowledge and skills to excel in an evolving and challenging marketplace. CTH Level 4 Diploma (formerly known as just Diploma) and Level 5 Diploma (formerly known as Advanced Diploma) graduates can progress onto NMIT’s Tourism and Hospitality Management Degree. Skyline University College – United Arab Emirates

Skyline University College (SUC) was established in 1990 in Sharjah, a city that has been recognised as a hub for education, culture and heritage by UNESCO. SUC believes in responding innovatively and effectively to train human resources and fulfil educational needs of industries like Aviation, Hospitality, Travel & Tourism, Information Systems, Marketing, Business Management and Finance sectors, and is presently one of the leading Universities in Northern Emirates. The programs offered by SUC are fully approved and accredited by Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, UAE. SUC offers Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), majors in Travel & Tourism Management, Information Systems, International Business, Marketing and Finance and Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program, with emphasis in Marketing, Finance and Human Resource Management.

Students can study for a CTH qualifications at SUC, and CTH graduates can apply for Advanced entry at SUC for a series of Bachelor and Master’s degree courses.

Binary University College – Malaysia

CTH graduates may convert their CTH Level 6 Diploma (formerly known as Prograduate Diploma) or Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma qualification to either a BA (Hons) or MBA degree with further six months of study. As a specialist university for management, IT and Entrepreneurship education in Malaysia, Binary University College offers excellent education at an affordable cost.

Students with CTH Level 6 Diploma (formerly known as Prograduate Diploma) in Hospitality & Tourism Management qualification can convert to BA (Hons) in Business Management – International Hospitality & Tourism degree qualification, awarded by Binary University College by completing the following modules:

• Entrepreneurship (15 Credits)
• Research Methods (15 Credits)
• Undergraduate Major Project (30 Credits)

Postgraduate Pathway

Students with CTH Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in Hospitality & Tourism Management qualification can convert to MBA – International Hospitality & Tourism degree qualification, awarded by Binary University College by completing the following modules:

• Entrepreneurship OR Research Methods
• Postgraduate Major Project

Delivery of the qualifications

Binary University College is planning to accredit several CTH Approved Teaching Centres worldwide to deliver these modules, enabling students to complete the full degree programmes locally, which will not only save money, but also enable students to combine their studies with work commitments.

Glyndŵr University London – UK

CTH graduates are accepted onto the BA (Hons) International Tourism Management degree qualification offered by Glyndŵr University London.

Under this progression arrangement, the following CTH qualifications are recognised for either direct entry or advanced entry.

Glyndŵr University London is located in central London, and became part of Glyndŵr University in 2011.

University of Lincoln – UK

The University of Lincoln’s business faculty, The Lincoln Business School, recognizes both the CTH Level 5 Diploma in Hospitality Management and the CTH Level 5 Diploma in Tourism Management for direct entry into its Final Year Top Up BA (Hons) Degree in Business Management.

Each applicant will be considered on merit and decisions will be based on individual applications. Applicants will also need to meet the University’s standard English language requirements of GCSE grade C, IELTS 6.0 or equivalent. In addition, applicants will need to be in work and have substantial work experience. NB. This progression route is subject to individual consideration of each application on its merits and is not automatic.

Auckland Institute of Studies (AIS) – New Zealand

Under the articulation arrangement agreed, CTH graduates can claim the following exemptions:

Level 3 Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality

Direct entry to Year 1 of the Bachelor of Hospitality Management degree qualification.

Level 4 Diploma in Hospitality Management

Direct entry to Year 2 with up to 7 course cross-credits (out of a total of 21 courses required) of the Bachelor of Hospitality Management degree qualification.

Level 5 Diploma in Hospitality Management

Direct entry to Year 2 of the following programme with up to twelve course cross-credits (out of a total of 21 courses required) of the Bachelor of Hospitality Management degree qualification.

Each applicant will be considered on merit and decisions will be based on individual applications. In addition, applicants will need to demonstrate an ability to study in English through an IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent with no band score less than 5.5.

Les Roches – Switzerland

HELP – Malaysia

HELP University College, founded in 1986 is a leading institution of higher learning in Malaysia with a firmly established international reputation among universities, research organisations, scholars, business and corporate leaders and governments in Asia Pacific, Europe and North America. It offers a wide and diverse range of programmes at undergraduate and graduate levels, assuming a leading role in research and development in certain disciplines and subject areas.

Students who have completed both the CTH Level 4 Diploma (formerly known as just Diploma) and Level 5 Diploma (formerly known as Advanced Diploma) in Hospitality Management will be offered exemptions from nine subjects of the HELP Bachelor of Business (Hospitality Management) (Hons) degree. The combination of nine subjects is equivalent to one year of study for the 3-year programme.

Tourism

University of Northampton – UK

Level 4 Diploma (formerly known as just Diploma) in Travel Agency Management and Level 4 Diploma (formerly known as just Diploma) in Tourism Management students can progress on to the University of Northampton HND Travel and Tourism course. Level 5 Diploma (formerly known as Advanced Diploma) in Tourism Management students can progress on to the final year of their BA (Hons) in International Tourism Management.

St Mary’s University College – UK

St Mary’s University College is proud to have the best-ranked Tourism department in London (Guardian University Guide). The BA Tourism and BA Tourism Management programmes offer students the opportunity to gain experience of different tourism environments and operations through fieldwork both in the UK and abroad. Students at St Mary’s also have a chance to combine study of Tourism with one of several other subjects if they wish.

Graduates of the CTH Level 4 Diploma (formerly known as just Diploma) are eligible to enter Year 2 of the university’s BA Tourism or BA Tourism Management. St Mary’s is also happy to consider graduates of the CTH Level 5 Diploma (formerly known as Advanced Diploma) on a case-by-case basis for entry into Year 3.

Gaming and Leisure

University of Salford’s – UK

The University of Salford’s Centre for the Study of Gambling is the first of its kind in the UK. It teaches at undergraduate and post-graduate level and undertakes research in the area of gambling studies in partnership with industry. Students who have studied the Level 4 Diploma (formerly known as just Diploma) in Hotel and Casino Management can go on to the second year of the BA in Gaming and Leisure at Salford University.

Students will study modules like Gambling Ethics, Gaming Economics and Strategic Management of the Gaming Industry, along with more general management topics. Students will have the opportunity for internships organised by the university. If successful, students could stay on to specialise in a specific area at Masters level.

General Management

Heriott Watt University – UK

Students who complete the Level 4 Diploma (formerly known as just Diploma) and Level 5 Diploma (formerly known as Advanced Diploma) levels are credited with five exemptions out of the total twelve modules for their BA in Business Administration. Students can generally manage six modules per academic year so a focussed student may be able to complete seven in a calendar year, thereby providing the student with a degree in three years.

The Heriott Watt degree is well supported with excellent comprehensive manuals and is by examination only – no dissertation. Further details available from CTH.

The University of Winchester – UK

The University of Winchester was established in 1840, and it combines this heritage with innovative learning and teaching. CTH works in partnership with the University of Winchester to develop CTH Level 3 Diploma (formerly known as Certificate) in International Business, enabling successful graduates to gain entry to Winchester’s degree programmes in Business.

Post Graduate Masters Top-Ups

BPP University College – UK

CTH graduates may convert their CTH Level 6 Diploma (formerly known as Prograduate Diploma) or Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma qualification to a Master’s Degree at BPP University College. Students can complete the qualification at BPP University College’s learning centres in Manchester or London as a full-time programme, or online via BPP’s online study portal.

CTH Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management

CTH Level 6 Diploma (formerly known as Prograduate Diploma) in Hospitality & Tourism Management graduates are eligible for direct entry to MSc Management with Tourism & Hospitality award. The modules in the full MSc qualification are categorised in to three sections as follows:

Edge Hill University – UK

Students who have successfully completed CTH Level 7 Diploma (formerly known as Postgraduate Diploma) in Hospitality Management are eligible to gain entry to either MBA or MA in International Management top-up qualifications. In order to qualify for MBA top-up programme, students are expected to have at least two years of work experience. MBA top-up qualification requires CTH graduates’ to complete three modules (Financial Management, Research Methods and Dissertation) and MA in International Management top-up qualification requires CTH graduates’ to complete Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility, Research Methods and Dissertation.

Students can start these qualifications in February and September each year. Edge Hill University has various approved study centres in the UK as well as internationally.

University of Sunderland – UK

Students who have completed the CTH Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma are eligible to gain direct entry at MSc in Hospitality & Tourism Management (Dissertation) stage at University of Sunderland or one of their approved study centres around the world.

Students are required to complete just a Dissertation to convert the CTH Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in to an MSc degree.

London South Bank University – UK

Students who have completed the CTH Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma are eligible to gain direct entry at MSc in International Hospitality & Tourism Management (Dissertation) stage at London South Bank University.

Students are required to complete just a Dissertation and two day workshop in Research Methods to convert the CTH Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in to an MSc degree.

University of West London – UK

Students who have completed the CTH Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma are eligible to gain direct entry at either MA in Tourism (Dissertation) or MA in Hospitality (Dissertation) stage at University of West London.

Students are required to complete just a Dissertation and two day workshop in Research Methods to convert the CTH Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in to an MA degree.

Anglia Ruskin University – UK

Students who have completed the CTH Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma are eligible to gain direct entry at MA in International Sustainable Tourism Management (Advanced Entry) stage at Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford or Cambridge.

Students are required to complete three modules and a Dissertation to convert the CTH Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in to an MA degree.
